Little horror Dan is king of cool

A young actor has become an internet sensation after starring in a spoof horror film trailer.

Daniel Rhodes, eight, appears in Who Will Stop Jack Frost, which was released on the net in January seemingly to promote a new scary blockbuster. But it later emerged the clip was actually a viral ad campaign for the AA.

The three-amd-a-half minute ad has been watched by 125,000 horror fans on You Tube and ut has received 16,415 'likes' on Facebook. A poster campaign also ran throughout London, including on the side of Harrods department store. The clip promotes the AA's Home Emergency Responce service, with the idea that a boiler breakdown is a nightmare.

It shows the ghoulish frost terrorising Daniel's character Tom and his family. Their ordeal comes to a head with Tom sitting shivering in a freezing bath. The full trailer revealed an AA repair man announcing that he had fixed the family's boiler.

Daniel's mum Lisa Rhodes said: "It was made like a mini movie and Dan loved making it.

"His teachers have seen it and they thought it was scary. But when he was filming it it wasn't scary at all because he was surrounded by cameras and crew and the cast had a laugh together. People have asked me how he could sit in a bith of freezing water but it was done with epsom salts."

The Newhey Primary School pupil landed the role through Rochdale's StarStruckTalent Agency.

The ad was looking for a boy similar to Joel Osment's character in the thriller film The Sixth Sense. Daniel, from Shaw, has previously starred in adverts for the supermarket Morrisons with former cricket superstar Andrew Flintoff.
