struck by success

StarStruckTalent Agency only launched in September 2011, but the agency already has 70 children on its books.

Its success has meant it has had to open a dedicated office in School Lane and it is hoping for even greater success in 2012 following the success of the festive John Lewis advert which follows a young boy as he waits impatiently for Christmas Day.

The latest round of auditions in December attracted 10 new youngsters to the theatrical, television and modelling agency for babies, toddlers, children and teenagers. Actor Colin Meredith, who runs StarStruck with business choreographer Ann Parkinson and professional chaperone Lisa Rhodes, said: "Things are really taking off. We are having a great deal of interest from casting directors looking for new fresh Rochdale talent."

"It is relatively early days but already a couple of our lads have had auditions for features films and two younger members auditioned for a Rolex commercial." He added: "Children in commercials is a growing market. We missed the boat for Christmas because the agency only launched in September but hopefully we will be involved this year."

StarStruckTalent Agency was launched following the success of Colin's Starstruck Theatre School, which has seen students go on to appear in television, radio and theatre. Shannon Flynn plays pupil Emily James in the BBC1 school drama Waterloo Road and another Starstruck pupil Katie McGlynn plays Scout.

StarStruckTalent Agency is expecting to hold another round of auditions in February. Its students recently surprised passing shoppers in the Rochdale Exchange with a 'flash-mob' performance of the Time Warp dance routine.
